Beth Marquart
From House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson:
"The mood has been extremely, extremely -- I don't think there's a wordcalled ubuntu-ish, but if there were, that is how I would describe the moodof this General Convention. We did not all agree 100percent. We have been struggling. We have heard each other. We have been so careful to make sure that we have listened to and responded to the needs of our church.”
This has been an extraordinary experience, thanks be to God.
Please remember us in your prayers as we make our way home. Please also remember my friend and mentor, Lawton Posey, in your prayers. He had a cochlear implant today. Thanks ---

Thanks for your running commentary on the convention, Beth. Thanks also to the other deputies who took time to post information. I just wish that there had been some response on the part of more folks back home. The quiet is strange and somewhat discouraging. Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and thanks for all the hard work. I am hopeful for the future of the Episcopal Church USA irregardless of what the Anglican Communion ultimately decides. While people may disagree with Bishop Klusmeyer's vote I support his obligation to himself to vote how he believes that he should. These are difficult issues to address in regards to tradition, Scripture and theology. Our fate is in God's hands and as Christians it is always better to take the path of love than rejection. Grand pronouncements are nice but what really matters is what each of us do individually in our own church--to extend the hand of greeting, to say hello and welcome, and at times to say thank you and goodbye.
